The other day, I visited “Nonohana Cafe” - a welcoming space where women can feel free to drop in and take part. This cafe is organized by the Gender Equality Division of Matsudo City and has been held monthly since May 2023. To make it accessible to people with a wide range of circumstances, the event is scheduled at different times each month - weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings, or Sundays. Moreover, participants are free to come and go at any time during the event, so you can simply stop by whenever it suits you. It’s truly an easy event to join, isn’t it?
At Nonohana Cafe, a variety of fun activities are offered each time, such as making keychains, aroma sprays, or coasters..etc, allowing participants to spend time on their own liking.
This was my first time attending, and probably because it was on Sunday, I was surprised to see many people already lined up before the event even began - clear evidence of its popularity. The fun activity that day was “Making Star-Shaped and Flower-Shaped Layered Candles”. Using colorful materials to create my own one-of-a-kind candle was a delightful experience.

There was also an origami (the Japanese art of folding paper) corner at the venue, and as someone who enjoys origami, I naturally found myself drawn to it. As I asked other participants for help with parts I didn’t understand, conversations began to flow, making interactions form organically. In addition, snacks and free drinks were provided, allowing everyone to relax in a comfortable atmosphere.
Nonohana Cafe is held at Yu Matsudo, the Municipal Gender Equality Center, located about a five-minute walk from the west exit of Matsudo Station - another point that adds to its appeal. Even for those who may feel a bit unsure about speaking Japanese, it’s easy to feel included through craft activities. Whether you feel like chatting with others or simply spending some quiet time on your own, Nonohana Cafe is a place where you can be yourself at your own pace. If you’re interested, don’t hestitate to stop by and join once.

先日、女性が誰でも気軽に参加できる「野の花カフェ」を訪れました。このカフェは松戸市男女共同参画課の企画で、令和5年5月から始まり、毎月開催されています。幅広くさまざまな状況の方が参加できるよう、月ごとに平日の午前・午後・夜、そして日曜日のいずれかで開催しています。また、開催時間内であれば自由に出入りできるため、都合のよい時間だけ立ち寄ることも可能です。とても参加しやすいイベントですよね。
「野の花カフェ」では、毎回、キーホルダー作りやアロマスプレー作り、コースター作りなど、さまざまなお楽しみの活動が用意されており、訪れた人が思い思いの時間を過ごすことができます。
私は今回初めて参加しましたが、当日は休日開催であるからか、開始前から多くの人が並んでいて、その人気ぶりに驚きました。今回のお楽しみ企画は「星型・花型の重ねキャンドル作り」でした。色とりどりの材料を使いながら、自分だけのキャンドルを作る時間はとても楽しかったです。

会場には折り紙のコーナーもあり、折り紙が好きな私は自然と手を伸ばしました。作り方が分からないところを周りの方に教えてもらううちに、言葉を交わす機会が生まれ、自然な形で交流が広がっていきました。さらに、お菓子やフリードリンクも用意されており、リラックスした雰囲気の中でゆったりと過ごすことができました。
「野の花カフェ」は、松戸駅西口から徒歩5分ほどの「男女共同参画センターゆうまつど」で開催されており、アクセスの良さも魅力のひとつです。日本語での会話に少し不安がある方でも、ものづくりを通して無理なくその場に溶け込むことができます。誰かと話したいときも、静かに自分の時間を楽しみたいときも、それぞれのペースで過ごせる場所です。興味のある方は、ぜひ一度足を運んでみてはいかがでしょうか。
