Autumn in Matsudo

Japan has four distinct seasons - spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Which one is your favorite?
For a long time, I loved spring the most, when the cherry blossoms bloom. Since there are no cherry blossoms in my home country, Vietnam, seeing the entire city turn pink feels truly magical - like something straight out of a painting.
However, since moving to Matsudo, I’ve gradually come to appreciate the beauty of autumn. Autumn in Matsudo offers both tranquility and liveliness at the same time.
When the leaves begin to change color, the grounds of Hondo-ji Temple and Tozen-ji Temple - two well-known attractions in Matsudo - glow in brilliant shades of red and yellow. The combination of historic temple buildings and colorful autumn foliage perfectly embodies the Japanese sense of wabi-sabi - the beauty found in impermanence and imperfection.
One of my favorite ways to enjoy the season is by reading a book, or taking a leisurely walk under the gentle sunlight filtering through the trees (komorebi) at Forest and Park for the 21st Century, a beautiful green space surrounded by nature.
Matsudo Mori Hiro Festa
At the same time, autumn is also one of the liveliest seasons in Matsudo. Various indoor and outdoor events take place across the city during this time. I’ve had the chance to attend the Matsudo Music Festival and the Matsudo Mori Hiro Festa, both held around November. These free events are filled with music, art, and the joyful energy of people enjoying nature together.
For those interested in international culture and exchange, I highly recommend the Matsudo International Cultural Festival and the Matsudo International Science Art Festival, usually held around October. These festivals offer a full day of fun, featuring cultural exhibits, hands-on experiences, and delicious food from Japan and around the world.
As a Coordinator for International Relations, I also participated in 2023’s Matsudo International Cultural Festival, where I hosted a photo corner and a booth showcasing Vietnam. Many visitors stopped by to chat, making it a truly memorable experience for me.
In Matsudo, autumn is a time when people can feel closer to nature, to each other, and to enjoy cultural events.
松戸の秋

日本には春・夏・秋・冬の四季がありますが、あなたはどの季節が一番好きですか。
私は、四季の中で、特に桜が咲く春が好きです。母国のベトナムには桜がないこともあり、街中が桜色に染まる光景は本当に美しく、まるで絵のように感じられます。
しかし、松戸で暮らすようになってからは、少しずつ秋の魅力に惹かれるようになりました。松戸の秋は、静けさとにぎわいの両方を味わえる季節です。
紅葉の頃になると、本土寺や東漸寺では、境内の木々が赤や黄色に色づきます。歴史あるお堂と鮮やかな紅葉の取り合わせは、まさに日本らしい「わびさび」の美しさを感じさせてくれます。
また、自然豊かな「21世紀の森と広場」では、木漏れ日の下でゆったり本を読んだり散歩したりするのも、私のお気に入りの秋の過ごし方です。

一方で、秋は松戸の街が一年で最も活気づく季節でもあります。市内のあちこちで、屋内外のイベントが盛りだくさんです。私は11月ごろに開催される「まつど音楽フェスティバル」や「松戸モリヒロフェスタ」に行ったことがありますが、どちらも入場無料で、音楽や自然、アートとのふれあいをたっぷり満喫できました。
さらに、国際的な文化に触れたい方には、10月ごろ開催の「松戸市国際文化祭」や「科学と芸術の丘」がおすすめです。日本の伝統文化から世界各国の展示や体験、グルメまで、一日中家族や友人と楽しめます。
私も国際交流員として2023年の「松戸市国際文化祭」にベトナム紹介と写真撮影コーナーを出展し、多くの方に声をかけていただき、とても心に残る時間となりました。
自然に親しみ、文化にふれ、人とのつながりを感じられる－そんな豊かな秋が、ここ松戸にはあります。
