Use of a My Number Card as a Health Insurance Card　マイナンバーカードの健康保険証利用

You can now use your My Number Card as a health insurance card at medical institutions and pharmacies.

• To use this service, you must register for the use of your My Number Card as a health insurance card.
• Even if you link your My Number Card with the use of the health insurance card, you can continue to use your existing health insurance card.
• At medical institutions and pharmacies that do not accept the My Number Card, you will need to present your health insurance card.

After December 2, 2024, the new National Health Insurance card is no longer issued, and it will be shifted to a system based on the MyNa Insurance Card (My Number Card registered for use as an insurance card). However, the current National Health Insurance card in your possession can be used until its expiration date (up to July 31, 2025).

Those who do not have a MyNa Insurance Card after December 2, 2024 will receive a “Certificate of Eligibility / 資格確認書(しかくかくにんしょ) (same size as the current insurance card)” so that they can continue to receive insured medical treatment. For those who hold a MyNa Insurance Card, a “Notice of Eligibility Information / 資格情報通知書(しかくじょうほう つうちしょ)” will be issued so that they can confirm their own insured status easily.

• When you get a job, retire, change jobs, get married, move, etc., you can use your My Number Card as your health insurance card without waiting for your health insurance card to be issued. (Procedures for joining or withdrawing from health insurance are still required as before.)
• With the person's consent, specified health checkup information and medication information can be shared with physicians and pharmacists.
• Specified health checkup information, medication information, and medical expense notification information can be viewed on MyNa Portal.
• You can check the amount of reduction in out-of-pocket expenses if you switch to generic drugs through MyNa Portal.
• Medical expense notification information can be automatically filled through MyNa Portal during the medical expense deduction procedures on tax returns (scheduled to begin with income tax returns for the 2021 tax year).
• Even if you do not have a Certificate of Eligibility for Maximum Medical Expense Amount, the maximum amount under the high-cost medical care cost system will be applied at the counter of medical institutions and pharmacies, and you will not have to pay more than the maximum amount you are responsible for.

Procedures for enrollment in or withdrawal from health insurance upon employment, retirement, job change, marriage, moving, etc. are still required as before.
As soon as you complete the procedures for enrollment in health insurance, you can use your My Number Card as your health insurance card.
Even if you use your My Number Card as your health insurance card, your 12-digit My Number will not be used.

Those who can not register through MyNa Portal can also apply at Seven Bank ATMs, at the counter of medical institutions and pharmacies with card readers with face recognition, and at the counter of the National Health Insurance Pension Division and branch offices.
