「レッツゴー キャム！」Cam, Ikuzo! Come follow Camden’s journey! June 2026

On Sunday, May 10th, the "3x3 Chiba Jets CUP (Matsudo Tournament 2026)" was held at the Matsudo City Seishounen Kaikan (Youth Center). Middle school students from around the city gathered at the outdoor 3x3 basketball court to play in heated matches, competing for the championship title.

3x3 basketball has its roots in "streetball", a form of the game that anyone can easily enjoy, which originated in places like New York City, USA. Today, 3x3 has even become an official Olympic sport. I have been playing basketball since I was young and I remember playing 3-on-3 basketball all the time, whether it be playing casually with my friends or practicing 3-on-3 drills during team practices.

The "3x3 basketball" that is now an official Olympic event is a bit different from the 3-on-3 I used to enjoy when I was a kid. What struck me in particular was how incredibly fast-paced the game is. In traditional, casual 3-on-3 basketball, the game usually stops after a basket is made, and play resumes only after the offense and defense switch sides and everyone is in position. However, under the current official 3x3 Olympic rules, as soon as a team scores, the players switch between offense and defense, and once they clear the ball past the three-point line, they can immediately start their attack. Because of this, how quickly a team can transition into offense before the opponent’s defense gets set up is a key factor that can determine the outcome of the game. This event used those same rules, and spectators were able to witness a series of thrilling games full of high level moves like smooth dribbling, spin moves, three-pointers, and one-handed passes; it was hard to believe they were only middle school students!

The outdoor "3x3 basketball court" at the Matsudo City Seishounen Kaikan, which served as the venue this time, is a half-court that citizens can use freely. It features a striking red design created by the Chiba Jets, a local professional basketball team, and proudly displays the words "Chiba Jets". Part of what makes this court so special is the way it gives kids a dream to aim towards. Becoming a professional player is one of the big goals just about any young athletes has, so I imagine that every time kids play on this court with "Chiba Jets" written on it in big letters, they get reminded to dream big, thinking, "If I work hard, maybe I can make it to that level some day." Watching the play at this tournament, not only was it clear that the kids were very determined to win and get better, but I could also tell they have a deep passion for the game of basketball.

In the future, a player from Matsudo who used to play on this very court might one day actually wear a "Chiba Jets" uniform and shine on the professional stage, so I encourage everyone reading to also cheer on the talented kids who play here!

5月10日（日曜）、松戸市青少年会館で「3×3千葉ジェッツCUP（松戸大会2026）」が開催され、屋外3×3バスケットボールコートで市内の中学生が大会の優勝を目指して熱戦を繰り広げました。
　
3×3バスケットボールは、アメリカのニューヨークなどで、一般の人々でも楽しめる「ストリートボール」をルーツとする競技であり、現在はオリンピック正式種目にもなっています。私も小さい頃からバスケットボールを親しみ、よく友達同士で3対3をして遊んだり、チーム練習で3対3のドリルに取り組んだりしていました。
　
オリンピック正式種目になった「3×3バスケットボール」は、私が子どもの時に楽しんでいた3x3とは少し異なるゲームになっています。特に印象的なのが、試合展開が非常に速いという点です。昔からの一般的な3×3バスケットボールでは、得点を取った後に一度プレイを止め、攻撃側と守備側が切り替わってから再開する形が多いと思います。しかし、現在のオリンピック公式ルールでは、点を取られた後、攻守交替し、ボールをスリーポイントラインの外まで運ぶと選手たちがすぐに攻撃に入ることができます。そのため、守備が整う前にいかに素早く攻撃へ移れるかも、勝敗を左右する重要なポイントになっています。今回のイベントでは、参加者のスキルもレベルが高く、ドリブル、スピンムーブ、スリーポイントシュート、片手のパスなどの技も飛び出し、中学生とは思えない白熱した試合が次々と展開されました。

今回の会場となった松戸市青少年会館の屋外にある「3x3バスケットボールコート」は、市民が自由に使えるハーフコート仕様のコートです。際立つ赤いデザインが特徴で、千葉ジェッツというプロバスケットボールチームによってデザインされ、「CHIBAJETS」という文字が書かれています。このコートは子どもたちに大きな夢を与えてくれる場所です。子どもの選手にとってプロの選手になることは目標の1つでもあるため、この「CHIBAJETS」という文字が書かれたコートでプレーするたびに、「頑張れば自分ももっと上を目指せるかもしれない」 という夢を自然と思い描けるのではないかと思います。コートを駆け回る選手たちの姿からは、勝利への熱意だけでなく、バスケットボールそのものを楽しむ気持ちもとても強く伝わってきました。
　
将来、このコートでプレーしていた選手の中から、本当に「CHIBAJETS」のユニフォームを着て活躍する松戸出身の選手が現れるかもしれないので、皆さんもぜひ応援してくださいね！
