Making Matsudo City Hall more foreigner-friendly
I am often asked what it is like to move to Japan as a foreigner. Looking back, the initial administrative processes were rather overwhelming. Not to mention paying taxes and insurances, and tackling the medical system. And don’t even get me started on how difficult it was to get approved for a credit card! I start to sweat just thinking about it all, so if you were to add in a language barrier it would be particularly tough.
Matsudo City would like to ease the burden and take the confusion out of visiting City Hall. We offer professional interpreting services* in English (Mon, Wed, Fri) and Chinese (Mon, Tue, Fri) to assist foreign residents with their municipal enquiries. Ms. Hamai (Eng., below right) and Ms. Ryu (Chin., below centre) are available on site from 10:15 - 16:00, and are eagerly waiting to help you. Simply request the interpreter ('tsu-yaku') once you arrive at reception.
*Only available for enquiries directly related to the city hall. Document translation requests are kindly refused.

外国人も利用しやすい松戸市役所へ
外国人として日本に引っ越してくるのはどんな気持ち？と何回も聞かれたことがあります。今振り返ると、最初の行政手続きが特に分かりづらかったことが印象に残っています。税金制度と様々な保険、そして医療制度も大変分かり難かったです。クレジットカードの承認を得ることにも悪戦苦闘しました！いま思い出すだけでも汗をかきそうですが、言葉の壁がある外国人市民の場合、疲れてしまうことがさらにもっとあるでしょう。
松戸市は、外国人市民でも円滑に市のサービスに関連する相談や質問ができるよう、英語（月・水・金）と中国語（月・火・金）の行政通訳が勤務しています＊。濱井[はまい]さん（英）と劉[りゅう]さん（中）は、松戸市役所本庁にて対応可能で、外国人市民の問合せをお待ちしています。市役所窓口で「通訳お願いします」とお伝えください。
