Here comes Javi! December 2018 Issue

If you walk around Matsudo City long enough, you’re bound to spot interesting artwork hiding within the concrete jungle around you. Whether it’s the decorative manholes that dot the streets or the grand murals that enliven the underground Miyanokoshi pathway, Matsudo has plenty of beautiful and creative artworks to appreciate.

Lately, I have become more interested in art, so I have been following the activity of Paradise Air, an artist-in-residence program responsible for much of our city’s cultural art scene. The other day, I went to a talk event held by Jupiter Brown and Alicja Rogalska, the current artists-in-residence, and Yamada Takayuki, a researcher from the Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art. I was deeply impressed hearing about their ways of living and ways of thinking about art. Just as our city tries to blend our everyday environments with art, I believe that it is important for us to welcome new ideas and ways of thinking into our normal, everyday lives.
