Living my dream in Matsudo

Happy belated New Year’s everyone! My 2018 in Matsudo has ended with an unforgetable experience that I have always wanted to try. I was born and raised in the city, but I really love the countryside life with peaceful green fields, so one day I want to become a farmer. I have a big passion for cooking, especially those dishes from my country - Vietnam. Ever since I came to Matsudo, I have always wanted to share Vietnamese food recipes with Japanese friends and finally, I had my first Vietnamese cooking class this August. I introduced Vietnamese steamed banana cake and Vietnamese-style coffee. These two dishes have a simple yet very Vietnamese taste.

Coming to Matsudo and knowing that this place is known for its flourishing agriculture and famous products, such as Yagiri green onion and Japanese pear, I feel like I’m closer to my dream than ever before. And last July, I applied to the “Farm Owner Experience Program” - a farming activity hosted by the Agricultural Administration Division, and between September to December I lived my dream of being a farmer. I grew spinach, cabbage, radish and broccoli, all in a cute, small field. Trust me, self-grown vegetables are much flavorful than normal ones.

松戸で夢を叶えられた

読者の皆様、明けましておめでとうございます。私の松戸での2018年はずっと前からやってみたかった体験のおかげで充実したものになりました。都会に生まれ育った私ですが、穏やかな田舎の生活にも憧れがあり、いつか農家になりたいと願っています。

松戸に来てから、農業が盛んで矢切ねぎや梨などの有名な農作物もあることを知り、私の夢がついに叶えられると感じました。そして、昨年7月、市の農政課が実施した「体験型オーナー農園」に応募し、9月から12月まで期間限定の農家になりました。かわいらしい小さい畑で、ほうれん草、キャベツ、大根とブロッコリーを育てました。自分で作った野菜は新鮮で、味も普段よりおいしく感じます。
