【Aug. 9 & 10】18th Annual Sakagawa Lantern Festival / 第18回 松戸宿坂川献灯まつり

The corn market at Shooryuji Temple, which used to be held at the historic Matsudo Inn area, has become a beloved local summer festival after the restoration of the clear waters of the Sakagawa River.

Other events at the festival include a corn market, food stalls, and taiko drum performances. In addition, a corner for traditional Japanese games is set up to take visitors back in time to the good old days.
The famous soysauce-grilled corn on a cob is a must have!

【Between early August and early October】Matsudo's pear harvest season is here! / まつどの梨もぎ観光農園オープン

Matsudo has a perfect condition (terrain & climate) to cultivate pears, and is well known as the birthplace of the "20th Century" pear variety (or Nijisseiki Nashi in japanese). However, Matsudo pears are rarity value, and they often sell out before they make it to market.
Why not visit orchards where you can pick your own pears and have a taste of sweet pears?
Flyer with a discount voucher for pear-picking are now distributed at the Matsudo City Tourism Association, JA Tokatsu branches and city branch offices throughout the city.

About Pear-picking

  • Pear Season : From early August to early October, depending on the variety
  • Fees, etc.: Admission is FREE
※The pears you pick are weighed and charged at the rate of 950yen/kg (approx. 2-3 pears)
  • Location: There are 15 pear orchards open to pear-picking (marked with yellow pins in the map below), and 30 orchards available for direct sale (marked with green pins in the map).

Pear Orchards Map

The Matsudo Pear Farming Agritourism Association publishes a leaflet every year to promote Matsudo pears to tourists.

Please feel free to print out the leaflet (2025 flyer will be available online soon) and use the coupons for picking and direct sales, valid one coupon per customer only on the day of purchase of 1,000yen or more.
