The Arrival of Spring in Matsudo

In March I felt the coming of spring in many ways, bringing us to one of my favorite times of the year.
Starting with the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival held in the Matsudo Shrine area, this is the time of year when festivals and other outdoor events can be enjoyed in Matsudo. Kawazu Cherry Blossoms, which become full-bloom at the beginning of March when it is still quite cold, are unique in the way that they give the impression of winter coming to a sudden end. At the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival, I was given the opportunity to help out with the selling of a famous Matsudo product called “Yagiri Negi,” which is a type of leek that is grown in Matsudo. It was a great chance for me to have a fun time interacting with the citizens of Matsudo, and other people who came to Matsudo to enjoy the festival. As I called out phrases such as “welcome!” to the passing crowd of people, again and again customers would to stop by to buy some leeks, and before I knew it I came to realize how fun it is to sell a product to festival-goers.

Thanks to participating in events like this, I have been able to come into contact with so many people of Matsudo. The connections that I have made by participating in local festivities has allowed me to truly appreciate the joy of being active in one's local community, and I hope to continue taking part in the city's events with all of you in the future!
By the way, Tsutsuji (azalea) flowers have also begun to bloom at one of my favorite places to go for a walk, the Tojo-tei Residence. Along with Tsutsuji which is considered to be one of the city flowers of Matsudo, many places in Matsudo are beginning to come to life with color thanks to the blooming flowers, and with the weather getting better it is a great time to get outside and enjoy the changing of seasons by taking a stroll at one of Matsudo’s parks!

3月は春の訪れを感じられる時期を迎えましたね。

松戸神社周辺で行う河津桜まつりをはじめ、松戸市で様々な祭りや外で楽しめるイベントが開催されるようになりました。まだ寒い3月上旬に咲く満開の河津桜を見ると、あっという間に冬が終わった気にさせられるのは河津桜が咲いている場所ならではの魅力ですね。河津桜まつりで春めいた風景を味わいながら、松戸の名物である「矢切ねぎ」の販売を手伝う機会をいただき、市内外の多くの方々と楽しく交流することができました。通りかかる大勢の人に「いらっしゃいませ！」等の声をかけると、こちらに気づいてくれるお客様が寄ってきてくれました。ネギを買ってくれるお客さんにネギを渡す度にとてもいい気分になり、祭りでの販売の楽しさを知りました。
このように地域のイベントに参加し、多くの方々と知り合うようになり、様々な形で松戸の催し物に参加したり、祭りでのお手伝いをさせていただく機会が増えたりすることで、地域の方々との交流にとても魅力を感じました。これからも一緒に松戸市内のイベントに参加し、盛り上げて行きましょう！
ちなみに、私がよく散歩に行く場所である松戸市の名所の戸定邸でも、ツツジが咲き始めました。松戸市の「街の花」になっているツツジを含め、市内で多くの場所が開花した花々で色づき始め、天気も程よくなっているので、外に出かけたり公園で散歩をしたり季節の移り変わりを味わいましょう！
